Let's Go Back to the Bible

“What is that smell? Is that you?”

The Bible uses a variety of metaphors to describe the Christian’s life and his influence.  We are called “salt” (Matt. 5:13), “light” (Matt. 5:13-16), “an epistle” (2 Cor. 3:2-3), etc.  At the end of 2 Corinthians 2, Paul depicts another vivid way for Christian’s to contemplate their influence. “Now thanks be to God who…through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in…

Why do those people hold advertisements beside the road?

In the last few years, they have started appearing everywhere – those people holding the signs alongside the road that advertise just about everything (pizza deals, cell phone services, closeout sales, CNA certifications, tax services, etc., etc.).  So, why are they out there?  What purpose do they serve?  Why not just use a regular sign or advertise some other way?  The reasons…

“Not now, Jesus. You’re just gonna have to wait!”

It is flat out amazing, mind-boggling and frustrating how lots of folks respond (or don’t respond) to Emergency Vehicles today.  It happens often, but I saw it again recently.  A fire engine slowly approached and entered an intersection with sirens and horns at full volume (and I mean FULL).  You’ve seen these trucks…they’re HUGE…they’re red (actually, this one was neon green) and…

Ever take it out for a drive?

Two different stories: (1)  A man went to the showroom and carefully compared the different features and prices of every model in stock.  He wanted to get the most for his money.  After making his selection and completing the purchase, he took his new beauty home and left it parked.  It remained in mint condition, as he was careful to never take…

“Whoever Calls on the Name of the Lord Shall Be Saved”

The inconsistency of the common denominational “plan of salvation” can be readily perceived if closely examined.  The general position is, “We must each come to God the same way…as a sinner who…relies totally on Christ alone by faith alone for our salvation.  If you would like to receive and trust Christ as your personal Savior, you may want to express your faith…

Here a soul, there a soul, everywhere a soul!

The person standing at the bus stop when you drive by has a soul!  The person who blows by you on the interstate in an Aston Martin has a soul!  The person checking you out at the grocery store has a soul!  The person who calls your phone from a telemarketing agency has a soul!  The person calling you from the collection…

“C’mon, c’mon, c’mon…get to the point!”

Recommendation:  Please read the following verses slowly and gauge your response to each. “Love is patient” (1 Cor. 13:4).  “The fruit of the Spirit is…patience” (Gal. 5:22).  “Walk in a worthy manner…with patience” (Eph. 4:1-2).  We “pray for you” that you may be “strengthened…for all patience and longsuffering with joy” (Col. 1:9-11).  “As the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on…patience”…
