I heard a story, which I’m sure has many renditions, of an engineering professor who told his university class that they could bring to their final exam a single 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper, with as much information as they could cram on it, to help them during the exam. You can imagine how those engineering students used every square inch of their papers, printing in fonts so small and line spacing so tight that it was hardly readable. However, one student came to the exam with a blank sheet of paper. But, in tow was his father, a highly-trained, highly-skilled engineer, with 30 years experience. The student put his paper on the floor, and then had his father stand on the paper. The teacher questioned the student about this unusual approach, but he was technically (a favorite word of engineers) “within range.” He was the only one to get an “A.”
As we face the tests of life, there are some things that we can do ourselves. But our answers will never compare with the help, love, support, guidance, strength and comfort that our Father can give to us–and He’s standing right beside us during these tests! Will you get an “A”?
