Let's Go Back to the Bible

Nothing to fear when you fear the Lord!

The value of fearing the Lord is underscored throughout Scripture.  Proverbs 14:26-27 is one such passage that highlights the incomparable joys promised to those who fear the Lord.  Fearing the Lord means that one stands in great awe of who the Lord is and what He has done, and that awe leads one to naturally reverence the Lord’s will and expectations for his life.

Note these great blessings:  “In the fear of the Lord (1) there is strong confidence” – you can have strong confidence in the Lord.  “And (2) His children will have a place of refuge” – you have a shelter and protective home in the Lord.  “The fear of the Lord is (3) a fountain of life” – you have not merely a trickle of life but an ever-flowing, over-flowing fountain of life in the Lord.  The fear of the will (4) “turn one away from the snares of death” – you have no reason to be anxious about death and its powerful snares when you are in the Lord.

Do you fear the Lord?  Do you stand in awe of Him?  Do you reverence Him and His will?
