Let's Go Back to the Bible

Up for something difficult?

There is only one snowy day mentioned in the Bible, as far as I can find.  In the listing of David’s mighty men and some of their phenomenal accomplishments, God records, “Benaiah was the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man from Kabzeel, who had done many deeds.  He had killed two lion-like heroes of Moab.  He also had gone down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day” (2 Sam. 23:20).  The detail that the Bible gives is never superfluous or intended to make the story more “flowery.”  What we learn about Benaiah is that he was able to accomplish the difficult.  How difficult is it to kill a lion?  How about if you are enclosed in a pit with that lion?  How about if, while enclosed in that pit with the lion, your footing is compromised by a snowy day and a snowy ground?  Benaiah, we learn, accomplished the difficult.

Question:  With God’s help, are you willing to tackle and accomplish the difficult for His cause?  Faithful living is difficult (Luke 13:24) and a struggle (1 Tim. 4:7).  Are you up for it?
