Let's Go Back to the Bible

Two for one

After throwing Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego into the Fiery Furnacefiery furnace, Nebuchadnezzar was amazed at what he saw.  “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?…Look!…I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God” (Dan. 3:24-25).  He saw someone else walking with them!

The Sanhedrin in Acts 4 saw something similar.  When they arrested Peter and John and listened to their testimony about the name of Christ, and “when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled.  And they realized that they had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13).  They saw someone else in them!

When we undergo fiery trials in our lives and when others scrutinize the ins and outs of our “strange” behavior, is it obvious to them (like it was to Nebuchadnezzar and the Sanhedrin) that there is someone else walking with us and living in us?  What a joyful thought!
