Can you imagine knowing for thousands and thousands of years that you were on the losing side of a battle with God? God told Satan, “My Son ‘shall bruise your head!'” (Gen. 3:15). How often do you think Satan is reminded of the cross of Christ, where he (and his power of death) were destroyed (Heb. 2:14), reminded that there is an “everlasting fire prepared” for him (Matt. 25:41), and reminded that he will be “cast into the lake of fire and brimstone” (Rev. 20:10)?
Satan is the loser! The ultimate loser! But, God’s love is so strong for us that He has provided for us and shown us the path to victory — victory over Satan, victory over this world, victory over death, victory over the powers of hell. Satan is losing and will lose eternally, but he has not given up and he continues to tantalize each and every one of us to join his losing team. But we have a Captain, a Coach and Referee who has guaranteed victory if we stick with Him!
“Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:57)!
