Driving down the interstate, with the rain coming down and the blades wiping, a spiritual application came to mind. There is a road that we are traveling down as Christians – the strait and narrow way, the Highway of Holiness. There is someone who is trying to distract us by constantly dropping things in our way – the devil. Sometimes we run head-on into the obstacles of Satan and they splatter all over us – bringing sin into our lives. When sin gets in the way, it is hard to see where we are going. We need something to wipe them away.
God’s solution – sinshield wipers. While we can set our windshield wipers to an intermittent speed, they are most effective when they are running continuously. Now, think about all of this in light of 1 John 1:7. “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light” (if we keep traveling down the narrow road)… “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (His blood keeps on cleansing our way). He is our sinshield wiper, which continuously, as long as we stay on the right road, wipes the sins away, leaving us a clear path to our destination! Interesting!
