Let's Go Back to the Bible

Preach another Jesus?

The very thought of preaching “another Jesus” seems absurd!  The general thought is that one either preaches Jesus or he doesn’t preach Jesus…he either believes in Jesus or he doesn’t believe in Jesus.  How is it possible that someone could preach but preach “another Jesus”?

Paul warned the church at Corinth, “For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!” (2 Cor. 11:4).  So, if someone preaches something differently than the gospel found in the New Testament…if they preach a different plan of salvation…if they preach a different message about the church…they are actually (according to Scripture) preaching “another Jesus.”

So, in order to preach Jesus (cf. Acts 8:35) faithfully and completely, one must preach the same gospel message He left in the New Testament.  Otherwise, it’s not Jesus being preached.
