Is it possible that you could love your spouse more than you do? What about your children? Is it possible that you could love your Christian brethren more than you do? Even the ones who are not so lovable? Is it possible that you could love the elders, deacons, teachers, workers, preachers, etc. at your local congregation more than you do? What about the older members? Is it possible that you could love some troublesome person in your life more than you do?
It is not possible to respond negatively to any of the questions above. Each of them requires an affirmative response. How do I know? Read 1 Thessalonians 3:12 – “And may the Lord make you increase…in love to one another and to all…” So, we can increase our love, for that is the will of God. But, the verse says more: “And may the Lord make you…abound in love…” So, we can not only increase our level of love a little, but we can make it overflow and abound.
Christian love knows no limits, but it is not about a feeling (of love) but an action (of love)!
