Let's Go Back to the Bible

Looking for a tree of life?

The tree of life is spoken of in Genesis (chapters 2-3) and Revelation (chapters 2 & 22), with obvious reference to the tree that was in the Garden of Eden and the tree in the Paradise of God.  But, in the heart of our Bibles mention is made four times of a tree of life.  Notice the difference?  There is the tree of life, and then there is a tree of life.  The tree of life can be ours in heaven, but Solomon teaches that we can have a tree of life now.

Wisdom “is a tree of life to those who take hold of her” (Prov. 3:18).  “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life” (11:30).  “Hope [of a good thing] deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled [of that good thing] is a tree of life” (13:12).  “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life” (15:4).  Looking for a new life?  Looking for a growing life?  Looking for a  fresh life?  Looking for a bountiful life?  (1) Find and secure wisdom.  (2) Do right.  (3) Do good.  (4) Use your words to bring a soothing gentleness into the lives of others.  There are only two kinds of trees – living ones and dead ones.  Which are you?  Be a tree of life!
