Let's Go Back to the Bible

Listen!

Throughout the Old Testament prophets, but especially through Isaiah, God beckoned to His people, “Listen to Me!” As you read these words over and over, you can almost hear the anguishing and pleading heart of God.  As a loving Father, the Lord begs His children, “Listen to Me…you stubborn-hearted…My people…you who follow after righteousness…you who know righteousness…Listen carefully to Me” (Isa. 46:3, 12; 51:1, 4, 7; 55:2).  Then, we read those times when God laments and cries, “They did not listen or incline their ear to turn from their wickedness…they will not listen to Me; for all the house of Israel are impudent and hard-hearted” (Jer. 44:5; Ezek. 3:7).

God pleads with us today to listen to Him and His Son.  At the transfiguration of Jesus, a voice from heaven sounded, “Hear Him!” (Matt. 17:5).  As with all of God’s message for us today, John wrote, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it” (Rev. 1:3).  Are you listening to your Father
