In a battle between Iron Man (Tony Stark) and Iron Monger (Obadiah Stane) near the end of the 2008 Iron Man movie, Tony “ripped out” the “targeting system” from Obadiah’s suit. As a result, Obadiah could not shoot straight and kept missing his target.
Could it be that some Christians have had their “targeting systems” ripped out – either by choice, by negligence or by deception? Have some of us allowed the devil to get on our backs and distract us and, therefore, disrupt our targeted purpose in this life?
The wise man would have us to remember, “The way of life winds upward for the wise, that he may turn away from hell below” (Prov. 15:24). Is the path of your life going “upward” toward heaven, or has it been diverted toward the realm of death below? Paul pleads with us, “Seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth” (Col. 3:1-2). Friends, if you miss your target of heaven, nothing else matters!
