Let's Go Back to the Bible

Got a little strength?

Sometimes we think we’ve got to have a spiritual strength that matches the physical strength of a Samson.  While such would be wonderful and while we must give ourselves diligently to the growth of our faith (cf. 2 Pet. 1:5-8), not all of us can have the spiritual stamina and strength of some of the heroes of faith of whom we read in the Bible.  So, what are we to do?

To the faithful church in Revelation 3, Jesus said, “I know your works.  See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength…” (3:8).  Jesus was not rebuking them for having “a little strength.”  He was thankful, as it was better than no strength.  However, and we must catch this, having a little strength was not all that caused this church to be characterized as faithful.  Jesus knew them—“(1) you have a little strength, (2) have kept My word, (3) have not denied My name…(4) you have kept My command to persevere” (3:8-10).

With your little strength, keep His word, do not deny Him and persevere!  He will bless you!
