Let's Go Back to the Bible

God won’t quit working on you, but you can!

The salvation process, while it requires work and effort and diligence on our part, is actually a work that is done by God! God is the One who saves us! God is the One who has done, is doing and will continue to do the saving work! (Don’t misunderstand or misread that! Christians are “created for good works” [Eph. 2:10], and must “work out [their] own salvation” [Phil. 2:12], lest they suffer the same doom as the demons who have faith but do not work [Jas. 2:17-26]. Chris tians must work! But that work is meaningless and useless without God’s work!)

Paul gave the church at Philippi a very encouraging and exciting nugget of truth to savor as they journeyed on their Christian walk — “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6). God begins a good work in every Christian at baptism (cf. Col. 2:12), and He is continuing to work in every one of us throughout our lives of service to Him. Is there any more encouraging and exciting thought than to know that God won’t quit working on us, unless we quit first! Think about it!
