Let's Go Back to the Bible

Are you a magnifier?

Do you know how glass (if it has a convex curve) can magnify an image and yet, if you reverse the curve, the same glass could minify an image? Regardless of what was going to happen in his life (good or bad, life or death), the apostle Paul determined to make certain of one thing — “Christ will be magnified in my body” (Phil. 1:20). Could you say that same thing?

But, Paul’s determination was even stronger. Look at the verse and its superlative statements. He said, “In NOTHING I shall be ashamed” (or “I will not be put to shame in ANYTHING,” NASB). “But with ALL boldness” (or “with FULL courage,” ESV). “As ALWAYS, so now also.”

With these superlatives to bolster the confidence of his affirmation, he declared, “Christ will be magnified in my body!” Through his every effort, Christ would be magnified! When others looked at his life, they would see Christ enlarged, exalted, highly esteemed, honored and magnified! Fill in the blank for your own life: “Christ will be ______ in my body.”
