Let's Go Back to the Bible

God will finish His work

Have you ever known those folks who would start a project but never seem to finish it?  They have a great idea and begin securing all necessary supplies and excitedly start on the work…then the fervor fades and incompletion prevails.

Here’s what Paul said to the church of Christ in Philippi – “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (1:6).  It was God who saved every member of that church, and it was God who was blessing that church for their continued faithfulness.  Later in this letter, Paul said, “It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (2:13).  God’s faithfulness will not allow Him to lose His fervor, stop working and leave His church incomplete in any fashion.

What God begins, God will complete!  But, only if His church maintains a fervent faithfulness in working for Him and His cause (cf. 1:9-11; 2:12).  Is God blessing your congregation?  Why or why not?  Make it personal.  Is God blessing your life?  Why or why not?
