Let's Go Back to the Bible

For those who have outgrown their mama’s comfort…

The Bible describes God as the “God of all comfort” (2 Cor. 1:3).  Read Isaiah 51 and see what “ALL comfort” from God involves (read slowly and consider each of these thoughts).  “Joy and gladness…thanksgiving and the voice of melody… My righteousness…My salvation…My arms…They shall obtain joy and gladness; sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (51:3, 5, 11).

The Great Comforter tells His people, “Do not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their insults…Who are you that you should be afraid of a man who will die…and you forget the Lord your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens…I am the Lord your God, who divided the sea whose waves roared…And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, that I may…say to Zion, ‘You are My people’” (51:7, 12-13, 15-16).

In the closing chapter is this promise to His people, “I will extend peace to her like a river…As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you” (66:12-13).  Oh, what a thought!
