Let's Go Back to the Bible

Do you “behold”?

Almost 600 times in the Bible, God uses the word “behold.” Most of the time we just run right through the word, but have you ever stopped to behold why God is saying “behold”? The word obviously involves seeing something or looking at something but often is a term of interjection regarding something remarkable.

“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse…Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice…Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand…Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him…Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord… Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save…behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners…behold, now is the day of salvation… Behold, I stand at the door and knock” (Deut. 11:26; 1 Sam. 15:22; 24:4; Psa. 33:18; 127:3; Isa. 59:1; Mark 14:41; 2 Cor. 6:2; Rev. 3:20).

When you’re reading the Bible and see a “Behold,” HOLD on, BE attentive, and BEHOLD what there is to “Behold”!
