Let's Go Back to the Bible

Do we trust that He really knows?

After the resurrection of Jesus, the disciples of Jesus took time to go fishing. However, John 21 tells us that they fished all night and “caught nothing” (21:4). These guys were professional fishermen (at least we know that Peter, James and John were). Maybe they were showing the other disciples their expertise in “how to fish.” But, that morning, they had nothing.

Jesus appeared to them on the shore and told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat,” and the catch was so large that they were “not able to draw it” into the boat (21:6). Can you imagine being one of the disciples? “How did He know? Wait, we fished every side last night!”

Too often today people want to question the word of Jesus and think they “know better.” They might say, “I know that’s what the Bible says, but I feel in my heart…” It doesn’t matter who you are, what you know and where you have expertise! Jesus is the all-knowing Lord (1 John 3:20). Rather than question Him, let’s trust and obey Him (Heb. 5:9; Prov. 3:5-6)!
