Let's Go Back to the Bible

A Tiger-Sized Lesson

Some of the funniest jokes I’ve heard in the last week have been about Tiger Woods.  Every time I turn on the news, there’s something about Tiger Woods.  With every day comes another woman making allegations.  He has ruined his marriage, tarnished his reputation, and (what he would probably consider the worst of all) he is losing tons of money as companies are pulling his promotional ads.  So what happened?  What can we learn?

There are lots and lots of lessons, but the one that keeps coming to mind is Moses’ warning in Numbers 32:23 – “Be sure your sin will find you out.”  Tiger tried to hide his sin (interestingly because he knew it was shameful and wrong), but sin will not stay hidden.  Adam and Eve learned that, as did Cain, Joseph’s brothers, Achan and numerous others in Scripture.  We, too, need to learn that no matter how well we think we might be able to hide sin, “sin will find you out.”  Even if you happen to sneak one by mankind, hiding it from God is impossible!  Let’s do our best to live up to God’s standards, not society’s!
