Let's Go Back to the Bible

Who is your hero?

Everybody has a hero (or so it seems).  For some, it might be a sports figure or some Olympic athlete.  For others, it might be someone in Hollywood, like a big movie star or a Broadway performer.  It could be someone in your family, someone in your neighborhood, a police officer, a firefighter, etc.  There are heroes all around us, some good and some not-so-good.

Who is your hero?  If you were to choose a Bible character as your hero, who would it be?  How about David, who killed a giant?  Daniel, who showed tremendous faith in God?  Esther, who saved her people?  Mary, who accepted God’s role for her?  Paul, who preached his heart out?

If you were going to help steer a child toward a hero to admire and emulate, who would you choose?  We want our children to play ball like Michael Jordan, look like Brad Pitt and have a lot of money like Donald Trump.  But, how seriously, steadfastly and energetically do we try to position Jesus as the hero of our lives and the lives of our children?  Is Jesus your hero?
