Let's Go Back to the Bible

Where is Jesus in the church?

When you begin to think about what the Bible says regarding Jesus’ relationship to the church, could you identify where Jesus is in the church? The Bible says that Jesus is the foundation (and chief cornerstone) of the church (1 Cor. 3:11; Eph. 2:20). Therefore, in one sense, Jesus is under the church. The Bible says that Jesus is the head of the church (Eph. 1:22-23; Col. 1:18). Therefore, in one sense, Jesus is over the church. The Bible says that Jesus is the captain of the church (2 Tim. 2:3-4; Heb. 2:10). Therefore, in one sense, Jesus is before the church. The Bible says that Jesus is the shepherd of the church (John 10:11; 1 Pet. 5:4). Therefore, in one sense, Jesus is alongside the church. The Bible says that Jesus is the Savior of the church (Eph. 5:23; Acts 20:28). Therefore, in one sense, Jesus is for the church. The Bible says that Jesus is the heart of the church (Col. 1:18; Matt. 26:29; Eph. 4:15; Heb. 2:17-18; Col. 3:11). Therefore, in one sense, Jesus is inside the church.
