Let's Go Back to the Bible

When I die, will I be like Rover? Dead all over?

If you ever get into a study with a Jehovah’s Witness, one thing you will find out is that they believe, “To die is to go out of existence.”  How morbid!  How sad!  So, when I die, I will cease to exist?  I will have no consciousness at all?  But, wait a minute!  The Bible says…

“The spirit will return to God who gave it” (Ecc. 12:7).  The rich man in Luke 16 “died and was buried,” and after he died “he lifted up his eyes and saw…he cried and said” (16:19-31).  Many years after their deaths, God said, “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob” (Ex. 3:6).  Jesus concluded, “God is not the God of the dead, but of the living” (Matt. 22:32).  “The souls of those who had been slain…cried with a loud voice” (Rev. 6:9-11).  How could the rich man, Abraham or the martyrs say anything after their death if they did not exist?

Oh, what a glorious thought for the faithful Christian!  When I die, my immortal spirit will be carried by angels (Luke 16:22) to a conscious paradise (Luke 23:43)!  No reason to fear!
