Let's Go Back to the Bible

Seek and you’ll find! One time God sought but didn’t find!

In Genesis 3, the Lord came to the Garden of Eden and called to Adam, “Where are you?”  Were Adam and God playing hide-and-seek and God really didn’t know where Adam was hiding?  No, God knew where Adam was – “there is no creature hidden from His sight” (Heb. 4:13).  His words were intended to test and challenge Adam.

On another occasion God was looking for a man, but this time He couldn’t find him.  It was during some very dark days in the history of Israel that God said, “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one” (Ezek. 22:30).  The prophets, priests and princes had turned against the Lord and were leading God’s people away from Him.  God looked for someone who would stand in the gap and draw His people back to Him, but there was no one to be found!

If God sought for someone today to “stand in the gap” and draw people back to Him, would He find anyone for the task?
