Let's Go Back to the Bible

We must ROLL it but He can CARRY it

How large does a stone have to be until you can no longer lift it?  We can pick up and move at will a pebble, a skipping stone and even one the size of a grapefruit.  But, have you ever tried moving a stone that you could not pick up and carry?  In Joshua 10, five Amorite kings fled from Joshua and hid in a cave.  Joshua told his men, “Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave” (10:18).  Why didn’t the men just pick up and carry the stones?  The answer is obvious!

This same word is used in Proverbs 16 to talk about our lives.  “Commit your works to the Lord, And your plans will be established” (16:3).  The word “commit” is from the same word to mean “roll.” Our lives, our plans, our burdens, our concerns, our works, our endeavors – they are too massive to just pick up and carry like a pebble.  The best we can do is roll them.  God says, “Roll them to me and I will take care of them.”  We must roll them, but God can carry them!

Have you committed/entrusted/rolled your life and life’s works into God’s hands?
