Let's Go Back to the Bible

We don’t need any more “shrinkers” and “shunners”!

When Paul met with the elders from Ephesus in Acts 20, he not only prepared and warned them for those things that were shortly to happen, but he also reminded them of his work among them for three years.  In the 400 words that he spoke to them on this occasion, twice he assured them that he did “not shun (shrink, NASB) from declaring to them” the Word of God.  He held back nothing that was “profitable” (20:20).  In fact, he held back nothing at all, for he declared unto them (without “shun” or “shrink”) “the whole counsel of God” (20:27).

While Paul determined that he would not shun or shrink from preaching the entirety of the gospel and its message, there are many religious teachers and preachers today who have wittingly chosen to shrink from teaching the whole counsel of God—on topics like salvation, baptism, worship, marriage, immorality, heaven, hell, etc.  How shameful!

If God said it, we need to preach it! Without shrinking, shunning or being ashamed!
