Let's Go Back to the Bible

The “blackest” of all Fridays

Black Friday is all about saving! Getting out there early, hitting the right places, finding the best deals! Some folks look forward to this day with great anticipation and preparation! Think about that for a moment. Black Friday. Do you know when the “blackest” of all Fridays occurred? Saving. Do you know the greatest saving that ever took place on a “Black Friday”?

“It was the third hour” on the “blackest” of all Friday mornings when “they crucified” the Son of God (Mark 15:25). “When the sixth hour (i.e., Noon) had come” on that Friday, “there was darkness” (can we say “blackness”?) “over all the land until the ninth hour” (15:33), “and Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last” (15:37). What was Jesus doing on that cross on that black Friday? “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Tim. 1:15).

Thank God for that ultimate saving provided on that “blackest” of Fridays!
