Let's Go Back to the Bible

The least of all the saints

When you consider the Christians you have known, who would you say was “the least”? Would you say it was the guy who couldn’t (or wouldn’t) beat his addiction to alcohol? Would you say it was the lady who always smelled like she hadn’t had a bath in weeks? Would you say it was the man who came for a while, fell away, came back, fell away again, and came back again but was lukewarm at best and was never really involved?

Whoever you would identify as “the least of all the saints,” how would you compare yourself to that person? It would be hard to not think of them as being “lower” than you. Notice how “the great apostle Paul” (as we call him) identified himself—“To me, who am less than the least of all the saints” (Eph. 3:8). Paul did not even put himself on the same level as “the least.” He said he was “less than the least of all the saints.”

Question: Do we have that kind of humility? If not, why not? What are we doing to humble ourselves?
