Let's Go Back to the Bible

The answer isn’t going to change

The Pharisees were displeased when Jesus healed a blind man in John 9.  They asked the man how he had received his sight.  Not satisfied with his answer, they interrogated his parents.  Then, they again came to the man and asked how he had received his sight.  The response of this man, who had experienced the power of God, is classic—“I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again?” (9:27).  The man’s parents “feared the Jews” and would not make any favorable statements regarding Christ (9:22).  While he didn’t know much, the healed man knew if Jesus “were not from God, He could do nothing” (9:33), and that truth wasn’t going to change, no matter how many times or how many ways the Pharisees might ask.

Interestingly in the very next chapter, Jesus responded in similar fashion when the Jews challenged, “How long do You keep us in doubt?  If You are the Christ, tell us plainly” (10:24).  “Jesus answered them, ‘I told you, and you do not believe’” (10:25).

Brethren, truth doesn’t change, and we don’t need to worry if folks don’t like that.
