Let's Go Back to the Bible

So, do you think it’s a good idea or a bad idea?

I heard someone on the radio the other day say something this, “It doesn’t matter if it’s a good idea or a bad idea.  It doesn’t matter if I like the person who suggested it or not.  It’s simply a matter of, ‘Is it authorized by the United States Constitution?’  If it’s not, then we have no legal authority to proceed.  Congress seems to think that it doesn’t matter what the Constitution says, but all that matters is if they can get a majority vote or not.”

This is not quoted for the political purpose for which it was originally stated on the radio (and I’m not trying to “talk politics”).  But, the sentiment that was expressed was so refreshing and exactly how we should approach honest Bible study.  It doesn’t matter if man’s got a good idea or a bad idea, if I like it or not.  It’s simply a matter of, “Is it authorized by the Bible?” If it’s not, then we have no authority to proceed, and it doesn’t matter what the majority thinks.

Where is our only authority in religious matters today?  Read Colossians 3:17.
