Let's Go Back to the Bible

Prayer trumps temptations!

Whenever you think the devil might be getting the best of you, drop to your knees and let the Lord get the best of the devil! The only way (not “the best way” or “a proven way” but “the only way”) to successfully overcome and triumph over temptation (any temptation) is through prayer!

“In this manner, therefore, pray…Do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one” (Matt. 6:9, 13). “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation” (Matt. 26:41). “Pray that you may not enter into temptation” (Luke 22:40). “…Give yourselves to fasting and prayer…so that Satan does not tempt you” (1 Cor. 7:5). For, “the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations” (2 Pet. 2:9), if we will but trust Him who is faithful (1 Cor. 10:13).

How often do you pray during the average week? How often do you pray during the average day? Having answered those questions, how often in your prayers do you beseech the Lord to protect you from temptations and the tempter’s charm? Prayer trumps temptations!
