Let's Go Back to the Bible

“Will we know one another in heaven?”

One of the questions that people always want to know about heaven is, “Will we know one another in heaven?” or “Will we recognize one another in heaven?” There are a number of reasons that this is often asked, and likely one of the primary reasons is that we will not have our earthly, human bodies, by which we are able to recognize and know people in this life.

There are many things that could be noted on this question, and there are several verses to which reference could be made to affirmatively answer this question. Let’s observe just one. Jesus said, “And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 8:11). Does this not affirm that we will know Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? Does this not also affirm that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will know each other? If that grandfather, father and son will know each other, then will not all grandfathers, fathers and sons know each other? You get the point!

One of the greatest things that will make heaven truly heaven is knowing one another!
