There are some hymns that we sing in worship that can be (sometimes) a bit complicated. Maybe the arrangement is “tough,” which makes it hard to follow along in certain spots. Maybe the lyrics are “tough,” which makes it hard to understand in certain spots. Nevertheless, these songs can still become meaningful and worshipful with continued concentration and practice.
However, there are some songs that are absolute favorites – simply due to their simplicity, both in lyrics and in music. There is nothing “complicated” about the songs
“Jesus Loves Me” and “God Is So Good,” but are they not two of the best songs in the book? It has been observed that, when some congregations have singing nights, one of the adults will request “Jesus Loves Me” (as if it is “for the kids”), but the adults are the ones who sing the loudest. And, you know why! It is because I KNOW Jesus loves me, and I KNOW He’s so good to me!
“Unless you are converted and become as little children…” Does this include loving worship songs that kids love? “I love Him so, I love Him so, I love Him so, He’s so good to me!”
