Let's Go Back to the Bible

Proud to be not just an American!

Have you ever traveled abroad and had your heart touched by the conditions in which many in our world live? It truly makes you appreciate your American citizenship. You realize how good you have it and long to get back home. People long to become American citizens because of all the rights and privileges that come with it. They see Americans and want to be one.

Do you get as excited about your heavenly citizenship as you do your American citizenship? Do you appreciate it as much? Do you realize “how good you have it” as a citizen of heaven? Do you long to “go home”? Do people see you, as a citizen of heaven, and want to be one?

New Testament Christians have their “citizenship…in heaven” (Phil. 3:20). This world truly is not our home! But sometimes we become so enamored by the rights and privileges of our national citizenship that we forget about the rights and privileges of our heavenly citizenship! The first is temporal; the second is eternal! Which should we concentrate on the most?
