Let's Go Back to the Bible

Proof that Jesus loved the Father

The thought of whether Jesus loved the Father may have never crossed your mind. It may be one of those obvious things—“Well, of course He loved the Father! That’s just a given!” But, do we have any evidence of it?

Note carefully what Jesus said in the last verse of John 14.  “But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do” (14:31). We can know that Jesus loved the Father by the fact that He obeyed the commands of the Father.

Now, take that and apply it to us. What is the evidence of our love? Is there any proof that we love the Lord? Jesus said just a few verses earlier: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word” (14:23). Jesus loved the Father and, therefore, kept His commands. We love the Lord and, therefore, keep His commands. Jesus ties those two loves together in John 15:10. So, does God know that you love Him? He told us the way He wants to be loved. Think about it.
