Let's Go Back to the Bible

How’s your happiness level?

Some people’s happiness level goes up and down with (and like) the stock market, or fluctuates like (or with) the weather, or ebbs and flows with the words, attitudes and relationships of folks around them. In other words, a person’s happiness level could vary (in these circumstances) throughout a typical day.

Will you read Proverbs 16:20 and think about it? Remember that Hebrew parallelism often (not always) restates in the second part of a verse what was stated in the first part of the verse but with a different emphasis. “He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.” Who is happy? The one who trusts in the Lord. Who trusts in the Lord? The one who heeds (gives thought to) the Word. What will one who gives heed to the Word find? Good…or stated another way…happiness.

Want to stabilize your happiness level? Solidify your trust in the Lord. How do you do that? Spend more time WITH Him…and IN His Word. Don’t dismiss the solution because of its simplicity.
