Let's Go Back to the Bible

“He is our God! The Great I Am!”

In Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” a gypsy named Esmeralda, seeking asylum in Notre Dame, sings the song, “God Help the Outcasts.”  The song begins, “I don’t know if You can hear me Or if You’re even there…”  I don’t know if You’re there! Unfortunately, that is the approach many take to God.

A mother was recently being questioned by her preschool daughter about living things and non-living things.  “Is a cat living?” “Yes!”  “Is a rock living?”  “No!”  “Is a horse living?” “Yes!”  “Ok, Mommy, I’ve got a hard one.  Is God living?” “Well, I really don’t know.  Is there a difference between real and living?  He’s real, but I don’t know if He’s living.”

Let’s put our confident faith in this truth – “There is a God!  He is alive! In Him we live!  And we survive!” Let us heed the words of the prophet, “The LORD is the true God; He is the living God” (Jer. 10:10).  No shame in affirming, “We trust in the living God!” (1 Tim. 4:10).
