Let's Go Back to the Bible

Easy-to-read may not mean easy-to-do!

While the translations vary in their ease to read and comprehend, God wrote the Bible to make it easy to read for the average person, even a child (which has made it the best-selling book decade after decade). Reading is one thing. The “doing” takes things to an entirely new level.

Consider some Bible instructions, from an “Easy-to-Read” version, that some folks have found not so “easy-to-do.” “Be kind and loving to each other. Forgive each other the same as God forgave you…You are God’s dear children, so try to be like Him…We should think about each other to see how we can encourage each other…So all of you should live together in peace. Try to understand each other. Love each other like brothers and sisters. Be kind and humble…In whatever you do, don’t let selfishness or pride be your guide. Be humble, and honor others more than yourselves” (Eph. 4:32; 5:1; Heb. 10:24; 1 Pet. 3:8; Phil. 2:3).

As this version says in James 1:22 — “Do what God’s teaching says; don’t just listen and do nothing.” These are not God’s wishes or suggestions! They are His requirements!
