Let's Go Back to the Bible

Does God hate your singing?

Did you ever have someone ask you (or even tell you) to stop singing because they didn’t like your singing?  Have you ever wondered what the people sitting near you in worship think of your singing?  One or both of these things may have happened to you.  But, what if it was God telling you to stop singing?  What if you wondered what God thought about your singing?

When God spoke to Israel through the prophet Amos, He had some very direct things to say about their worship.  “I hate, I despise your feast days, And I do not savor your sacred assemblies” (5:21).  Wow!  God hated their worship!  Is that what He’s saying?  “Take away from Me the noise of your songs” (5:23).  Israel was assembling and they were “worshiping” God, or so they may have thought.  However, because “justice” and “righteousness” (i.e., godly living) did not shine forth in their lives, their “worship” efforts were not accepted by God (5:24).

What does God think of your singing?  Your Monday-Saturday living will help to settle that.
