Let's Go Back to the Bible

Do not exit!

Have you ever missed an exit while driving down a highway?  It can be very frustrating, especially if the next exit is miles away.  Even when there is plenty of warning (with miles and miles of signs preceding the exit), sometimes our minds wander and we drive right by it.

But sometimes missing an exit is a good thing.  (In fact, it could be the best thing that ever happened.)  The Bible describes the godly life as one traveling on a highway.  In fact, Proverbs 15:19 says, “The way of the upright is a highway.”  Now, notice what the next chapter says, “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil” (16:17).

The highway of holiness (a.k.a. the highway of God) is a narrow highway.  While the evil one will put up exit signs all along the road and make them look too appealing to drive on by, we must remember, “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil.”  When Satan tries to get you to veer off course, do not turn to the right hand or to the left.  Do not exit!
