Let's Go Back to the Bible

Crack that door a little and you’ve got to open it all the way!

The Lord made it very clear that “we are no longer under” the old covenant, for “He has taken it out of the way having nailed it to the cross” (Gal. 3:25; Col. 2:14).  However, in order to find justification for beliefs or practices, some look to the Old Testament and use Old Testament teachings and practices as their authority.  Because the New Testament does not authorize such things as the use of instrumental music in worship or the keeping of the Sabbath Day, some who wish to hold to these practices turn to Old Testament passages for validation.

However, not only does the New Testament plainly teach that the old law’s power has been “abolished” (Eph. 2:14), but it also requires that those who look to keep part of the law must “keep the whole law” (Gal. 5:3).  In other words, God says that if we seek to use the Old Testament to authorize any belief or practice today that we are obligated then (this is not optional) to keep every one of the 613 commands of the Old Testament.  Jesus died to take away the first and establish His covenant (Heb. 10:5-10).  Let us obey His covenant!
