Let's Go Back to the Bible

Chase after people!

In one of the most practical chapters for Christians, Romans 12 is a chapter that should be written on the heart of every child of God.  One interesting (i.e., not practiced too regularly today, it seems) directive of God in this chapter is found in the last three words of verse 13—“given to hospitality.” The word “given” is from a Greek word that was used of enemies who “pursued” each other.  Therefore, here is what God is requiring of us as His people—“pursue hospitality, as if in a chase or hunt for it!”

Consider your personal practice of hospitality over the last six months.  Think of how many people you have invited into your home.  Think of how many people with whom you have shared a meal in the last three months.  Would you consider your efforts in the area of hospitality to be described as “pursuing it, chasing it, hunting it, being given to it”?

In the next two weeks, to whom will you show hospitality?  What about after that?
