The yellow road sign that has only the word “CHURCH” on it always amuses me. Yellow road signs are “Caution Signs.” So, motorists are being cautioned about a “CHURCH”?
I always wonder, “What’s the caution all about?” Are they being cautioned about an extremely active and zealous “church” that has lots of people there, coming and going, all the time, with great excitement for what they are doing? Or, are motorists being cautioned to drive slow, be quiet and not disturb the solemn, meditating folks inside that building beside the road?
Brethren, I hope that if our congregation had a “Caution Sign” that it would be because of the first reason above. Caution: These people love the Lord with all their hearts (Matt. 22:37)! Caution: You will recognize the fervency of these people by their love for one another (John 13:34-35)! Caution: These folks truly believe in the truth of God’s Word and the power of the gospel (Rom. 1:15-16)! Caution: These folks are turning the world upside down (Acts 17:6)! Caution: The devil is running from this place (Jas. 4:7)!
