Let's Go Back to the Bible

As is the habit of some

Some folks can sit at a football game for three hours (or more). Some folks can sit and fish all day long. Some folks can sit in a cart and play a round of golf for three or four hours. Some folks can sit and watch a movie for two or three hours. Some folks can sit and read a book for an entire afternoon. Some folks can sit in a doctor’s office for a couple hours to check on their health. Some folks can sit on an airplane (or in a car) for hours and hours to reach their destination. Some folks can sit at their computer and work or even play games for hours on end. Some folks can sit and watch their child (or grandchild) play a little league sport for an entire morning. Some folks can sit on the beach and watch the waves for the better part of a day.

So, tell me again, why is it that “some folks” cannot (or, more accurately, do not) sit and participate in the assembly when the church is gathered together? We always seem to find a way to do what we want to do and even to do what we have to do. Don’t we?
