Let's Go Back to the Bible

Amazed!

When I think about the love and power of God, “amazed” is a word that immediately comes to mind.  The word is found 17 times in the NKJV, 16 of which are in four New Testament books.  Enjoy each of these—“all the multitudes were amazed” (Matt. 12:23); “they were all amazed” (Mark 1:27); “all were amazed” (Mark 2:12); “they were greatly amazed” (Mark 6:51); “all the people were greatly amazed” (Mark 9:15); “they were amazed” (Mark 10:32; Luke 2:48); “they trembled and were amazed” (Mark 16:8); “they were all amazed” (Luke 4:36; 5:26; 9:43; Acts 2:7; 2:12); “greatly amazed” (Acts 3:11); “all who heard were amazed” (Acts 9:21).

These passages call to mind two songs that we sing.  “O Lord my God!  When I in awesome wonder consider all the worlds Thy hands have made…”  “I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene, and wonder how He could love me, a sinner, condemned, unclean.”

Pondering God’s love for you and His power working on your behalf, are you amazed?
