Let's Go Back to the Bible

Use What You Have and God Will Give You More

We know the parable of the men who were given money to be used while their master was away. Each of them doubled the money given to them except for the last one, who, while protecting the money he received, did nothing with it. We may have overlooked what happened to his unused money. It was taken and given to one of the men who had multiplied what had been entrusted to them. Having finished the story, Jesus turned His attention from them and toward us, when He said, “For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away” (Matt. 25:29).

Think about His words. He promised that if we used what we have, He will give us more. He promised that if we fail to use what we have, He will take it away from us. What a lesson to every Christian. God will give you more if you are using what you have. The principle is not limited to physical possession, but to every aspect of life.

This is why the new class beginning Sunday at 5:00 is so important. For the next eleven weeks this special class entitled The Biblical Model for Leadership is planned for every man, young and old, in this congregation. Wives certainly are invited, but the focus will be in helping every man at Palm Beach Lakes grow. The leaders in this church, even those who are seen as “five talent” men, will profit from this study. It is for young men, for middle aged men, for older men—even for those who see themselves as a “no talent” man. Many of us are getting older and there is a crying need for new leaders to be developed!

The very fact that the elders are adding another hour to our Sunday schedule shows the importance they give to this time together. They see the need for themselves and others who are in a leadership capacity to given more as they use what they have. If they feel their need, and see this special need for developing leaders, there is no doubt what our response should be.

Now think about the title of this class. It is not some study of techniques which work in the business world, but a deep study of Biblical principles of leadership. How one leads employees is so different from the leadership needed for the Lord’s “volunteer” army. The Bible really does supply our every need.

Just so you will know, Gary will continue the singing classes with special emphasis on our ladies singing. Let’s make the next eleven weeks the best in the history of this church!
