Let's Go Back to the Bible

“I’m too cool for that!”

Do you know what you get when you mix someone who is “culturally conditioned” (i.e., has been conditioned by the culture to think and behave in certain ways) with “air condition”?  You get someone who believes and therefore acts in such a way that says, “I’m too cool for that!”  (Ok, maybe that’s not as cute as I thought it was.)  So, why a poor attempt at humor?

Too many Christians are “culturally conditioned,” having allowed our culture to define for them “what is cool” and “what is not.”  Then, they bring those twisted definitions into their Christian life.  When it comes time to sing in worship, too many think, “I’m too cool for that!”  When it comes time to open Bibles and personal notebooks and absorb God’s Word during a Bible class or sermon, too many think, “I’m too cool for that!”  When it comes time to stand up for purity, morality and righteousness (based on God’s standards), too many think, “I’m too cool for that!”

So, hmm…if “I’m too cool for that” now, I wonder if I’ll be “cool” in eternity?
