Let's Go Back to the Bible

Two Amazing Events

Is there any way any of us could have imagined how wonderful the past few days at Palm Beach Lakes would have been? It is wonderful when a single event energizes the church, but it is even more wonderful when events follow one after another and create such excitement.

After the Ladies’ Day this past Thursday, the comment I heard again and again was, “This is by far the best one we have ever had.” I agree wholeheartedly! There was a spirit of cooperation and volunteerism which preceded the event. It seemed like all that had to be done was to mention some aspect of that special evening and more than enough stepped forward ready to help.

The food was excellent and there were more men serving the food than we have ever had. The lesson from Becky Blackmon, from what I have heard, changed the lives of everyone who listened to her. The evening was so great that Satan must have been upset and tried to spoil the evening. We are sorry for the fact that cars were broken into and we are already making plans to ensure it does not happen again. If you missed the evening, you missed a great opportunity to serve or to be spiritually uplifted.

What can we say to describe the Celebrating Family weekend. Dale Jenkins surpassed every expectation we had of him, and our expectations were extremely high. On Saturday evening he met with parents of teens (and others who were interested) and discussed, “Teens, Technology and Temptation.” The advice he gave is something every parent in America should hear. What a great evening!

Then on Sunday there were three outstanding lessons. The first dealt with having the courage to deal with our children and was filled with practical advice along these lines. The second lesson centered around the roles godly husbands and wives play and the special needs each one has. After lunch the focus was on how to have family devotions—the importance and the practical ways this lost element in our homes can be restored.

If you missed the Sunday lessons make sure to listen to them at www.pblcoc.org. If you want copies of the lessons, either on DVD or CDs just phone the office. There are so many ways to use this material and I urge you to get it in your hands and use it to help others. Truth is unchanging and the truths presented on Sunday will never go out of date. Satan is real, but of even greater importance is the power God gives us to put him to flight!
