Let's Go Back to the Bible

Too Much Up to Get Down

Our failing economy, our national security, our governmental corruption, our immoral culture, our personal struggles—it’s enough to get you down, keep you down and kick you while you’re down.  And you can spend your days and nights focusing on (i.e., worrying about) these kinds of things and drive yourself into a near panic.

Or, you can focus on (i.e., enjoy and appreciate) all the positive things that are happening, still aware of the “downers” but not letting them get you down.  See if the following doesn’t help you to realize that there’s too much that’s UP to get DOWN!

God is still on the throne, the cross still saves and heaven still calls.

PBL continues to be a well-balanced, sound, loving congregation of God’s people.

PBL is cared for by loving shepherds, diligent deacons and a gospel preacher serving here for 27+ years.

The very mention of certain names brings great excitement—Douglas working with the Spanish; our Paraguay Mission Team consisting of Chris & Vickie, Josh & Cara, Troy & Andrea; our re-energized youth with the arrival of Casey & Hannah.

Our young people continue to experience life-changing events like Leadership Training Camp (our ninth year), summer mission trip (our 24th trip), Evangelism Training for Youth (our seventh one).

Our Cornerstone Groups are working well, meeting needs within the groups, having activities together, bringing members closer to one another.

Personal Bible studies are ongoing with non-Christians.  The “Soldiers of Christ” program has all of us studying and learning more on our own.  Faith is increasing!

Ten couples at PBL have been married for 50 years or more—that’s over 1,000 cumulative years of marital experience.

We still have the freedom to peacefully worship God every Lord’s day (what a tremendous blessing and awesome privilege)!

And what more shall I say?  For the time would fail me to tell of our Bible classes, Kick Start Your Summer Series, new members, lectureship, young adults, servant-hearted members, etc., etc.  Too much UP to get DOWN!
