As I look at the next few months of the church’s calendar, I am thrilled about the many great opportunities where we can grow. The willing spirit shown by so many makes it possible for us to do so much for our Lord. When large tasks are undertaken by several individuals they simply become a series of small tasks linked together.
This Sunday Troy Spradlin will be with us again. Most of you know that he and Josh (and their families) will become our missionaries next year, so we treasure every moment we have with them as they make preparation. Let me encourage every member to make a special effort to be present this Sunday. It should be a special time for each of us.
Our Leadership Workshop with J. J. Turner begins on Friday night, May 16. The emphasis will be on developing elders and deacons, but the seminar is not just for those who currently serve in these areas. One never knows what the future holds and never knows what opportunities lie ahead. The key to successful service is to prepare now for whatever may come. The Saturday sessions enlarge on this emphasis and will include principles of leadership that work in all areas of life. Let me assure you that your life will be greatly enhanced by that weekend.
The month of June, especially on Wednesday nights, offers so much for us. At each of the midweek services we will have a guest speaker as part of the Kick Start Your Summer series. We will have more to say about these speakers later, but make your plans to be present at each of the services.
Can you believe that Palm Beach Lakes began 85 years ago? The first weekend of July we are planning a tremendous homecoming to celebrate all that God has done through us. Many are already working behind the scenes, and we continue to hear from former members who are arranging to come. We have a great heritage and it will be so wonderful to share the past and dream about the future together.
That’s just the beginning of this summer. Add to these events two Leadership Training Camps (one for young men, another for young ladies), two mission trips by our young people, the “Brackett Week” at Central Florida Bible Camp, and the Silencing of God Seminar at the Eissey Campus Auditorium with Dave Miller. It’s time to be involved and to grow together! Opportunities abound!
